Engineering Report

 

Borough of West Cape May

 

            USDA FY2003 Water & Sewer Replacement Project – Remote Water Meter Reading System:

  • Status: 

 

  • Remington, Vernick & Walberg had requested and USDA has given approval to use their funds for the purchasing of the necessary hardware, software and meters from HD Supply Waterworks.  HD Supply Waterworks is preparing a detailed equipment list and pricing.
  • The City of Cape May has amended an intermunicipal agreement relative to the cost of improvements to service to accommodate the proposed remote water meter reading system. 

 

  • HD Supply Waterworks has prepared and submitted copies of the sole proprietary purchasing agreement.  Remington, Vernick & Walberg and the Borough have reviewed the documents with  representatives of HD Supply Waterworks and have forwarded to the Borough Solicitor for review.
  • Remington, Vernick & Walberg prepared the specifications and construction documents for bidding the meter installation.  The specifications are being reviewed by the Borough and HD Supply Waterworks for completeness.  Upon receipt of the Borough and HD Supply Waterworks comments, Remington, Vernick & Walberg will finalize the bid documents.

           

 

 

            NJDOT Municipal Aid:  

 

  • Grant application has been approved by NJDOT in the amount of $143,000.00.   Work includes reconstruction of Sixth Avenue beginning at CR 607 (Bayshore Road) and proceeding easterly.

 

  • The contract has been awarded to Albrecht & Heun, Inc.
  • NJDOT approved the storm sewer replacement change order and the exceeding of the 20% maximum contract amount increase.  This allows the Borough to complete construction up to the maximum grant award.

 

  • The installation of the concrete curb at the catch basins is the only outstanding item of work.  The work is to be completed the week of October 20, 2008.

 

            Park Boulevard Bike Path:

  • The construction is complete, except Contractor to eliminate a puddle in front of 311-313 Park Boulevard.

 

  • Awaiting the as-builts and maintenance bond from Contractor.
  • Once as-builts and maintenance bond are received and approved, the retainage shall be released and the project will be closed out.
