Engineering Report

 

Borough of West Cape May

 

            USDA FY2003 Water & Sewer Replacement Project – Remote Water Meter Reading System:

 

  • Status: 
  • Remington, Vernick & Walberg had requested and USDA has given approval to use their funds for the purchasing of the necessary hardware, software and meters from HD Supply Waterworks.  HD Supply Waterworks is preparing a detailed equipment list and pricing.

 

  • The City of Cape May has amended an intermunicipal agreement relative to the cost of improvements to service to accommodate the proposed remote water meter reading system. 
  • Remington, Vernick & Walberg has prepared the specifications and construction documents for bidding the meter installation.    The bid opening was Tuesday, January 6, 2009.  Bids were tabulated and are currently being reviewed by the Borough Solicitor.

 

  • The Borough has executed a contract with HD Supply for furnishing and installing the remote reading infrastructures and furnishing the compatible meters.

           

 

            NJDOT Municipal Aid:  

 

  • Grant application has been approved by NJDOT in the amount of $143,000.00.   Work includes reconstruction of Sixth Avenue beginning at CR 607 (Bayshore Road) and proceeding easterly.
  • The contract has been awarded to Albrecht & Heun, Inc.

 

  • The installation of the concrete curb at the catch basins has been completed.
  • Site clean up and restoration of adjacent properties has been completed.

 

  • Contractor to prepare and submit final payment request and close out documentation.

 

            Park Boulevard Bike Path:

  • The construction is complete, including the elimination of “bird baths” in front of 221-223 and 311-313 Park Boulevard.

 

  • The as-builts and maintenance bond have been received.
    • Borough has necessary NJDOT paperwork.  Borough to sign and return paperwork to Remington, Vernick & Walberg.  R V & W will then forward the final package to NJDOT.  Upon NJDOT approval, NJDOT will release the remaining 25% of the grant monies.
