Engineering Report

Borough of West Cape May

 

            USDA FY2003 Water & Sewer Replacement Project – Remote Water Meter Reading System:

  • Status:The Borough and the City of Cape May have completed initial discussions and are moving forward to develop an inter-municipal agreement for the sharing of the City’s remote water meter reading system.
  • USDA has been given preliminary approval to use their funds for the purchasing of the necessary hardware, software and meters. The Borough is reviewing Remington, Vernick & Walberg’s proposal for professional services in conjunction with the work. Remington, Vernick & Walberg are awaiting written authorization to forward to USDA for formal approval.
  • A meeting is being scheduled next week between the Borough and the City of Cape May to discuss the next steps.
  • It is anticipated to have the system operational within the next six to twelve months.

ADA Upgrades for the Municipal Building:

  • Scope of Work:  Modify the Municipal Building Complex and make it ADA compliant through upgrades to: Parking area for spaces, sidewalks and ramps; Entrance and access doors including hardware throughout building; Accessible route to connect all accessible spaces; Counter top and service window areas; Alarm system including pull stations and visible strobes; Bathrooms, drinking fountains and showers
  • Status:
    • All work is substantially completed.
    • Contractor has not completed the punchlist
    • Remington, Vernick & Walberg to prepare final close out paper work once the punchlist is completed.
    • Fianl payment requisition has been forwarded to the Borough for review.

USDA FY2004 Water & Sewer Replacement Project - “Phase 2”:

  • Scope of Work:  Upgrade approximately 4,600 feet of sanitary sewer gravity main and associated services, replace concrete curb and reconstruct roadway as required.  Notice to Proceed March 2, 2007, 170 calendar days to complete, completion date August 18, 2007.
    • McCullough Alley (from Broadway to Pacific) - Install sanitary sewer.  Reconstruct roadway as required.
    • Atlantic Avenue (from Sunset to Borough Hall Alley) - Install associated services.  Replace concrete curb and reconstruct roadway as required.
    • Third Avenue (from Atlantic Avenue to Pacific Avenue) - Install sanitary sewer and associated services.  Replace concrete curb and reconstruct roadway as required.
    • Borough Hall Alley (from Broadway to Pacific) - Install sanitary sewer.  Replace concrete curb and reconstruct roadway as required.
    • Fifth Avenue (from Atlantic Avenue to Brown Street) - Reconstruct roadway as required. 
    • Brown Street (Fifth Avenue mid block towards Sixth Avenue) - Reconstruct roadway as required.  
    • Pacific Avenue (from Goldbeaten Alley to Sixth Avenue) - Install associated services.  Replace concrete curb and reconstruct roadway as required.
    • Second Avenue at Atlantic Avenue – Four house sanitary lateral collector to be replaced.
  • Status: 
  • Work to be completed:
    • The contractor has requested a time extension. The request is under review.
    • Punchlist issued September 12, 2007. Contractor working on completing punchlist items.
    • Contractor anticipates punchlist to be completed no later than October 15, 2007.

            NJDOT Municipal Aid:  

  • Grant application has been approved by NJDOT in the amount of $143,000.00.   Work includes reconstruction of Sixth Avenue beginning at CR 607 (Bayshore Road) and proceeding easterly.
  • Remington, Vernick & Walberg has submitted its professional services agreement for the preparation of construction/bid documents. Remington, Vernick & Walberg has completed the survey and is proceeding with design services.

    c. Award and issue Notice to Proceed Oct. 10, 2007

    e. Contract completion date (45 days) Nov. 30, 2007

            Park Boulevard Bike Path: (no change from July 25, 2007 Engineering Report)

  • Topographic survey completed. Base maps being prepared.
  • Design and layout to begin October 1, 2007
