USDA FY2003 Water & Sewer Replacement Project – Remote Water Meter Reading System:

USDA has been given preliminary approval to use their funds for the purchasing of the necessary hardware, software and meters.

A meeting was held between the Borough and the City of Cape May to develop an intermunicipal agreement relative to sharing the remote water meter reading system. Negotiations are underway.

System supplier has prepared equipment cost estimate for related equipment costs. This information is essential to establishing the final scope off work to be completed. Remington, Vernick & Walberg is working with Mark Blauer to determine the maximum amount of available funding. Meeting was held with USDA Friday, January 11, 2008, to establish the procedure to move forward. RV&W to prepare Scope of Work and bidding process and forward to USDA for approval. Additional work including replacement of pump station pumps and installation of meters by Contractor to be added to the contract. Remington, Vernick & Walberg will then send a formal request letter to USDA for approval.

Scope of Work: Modify the Municipal Building Complex and make it ADA compliant through upgrades to: Parking area for spaces, sidewalks and ramps; Entrance and access doors including hardware throughout building; Accessible route to connect all accessible spaces; Counter top and service window areas; Alarm system including pull stations and visible strobes; Bathrooms, drinking fountains and showers.

All work is substantially completed.
Contractor has not completed the punchlist.
Remington, Vernick & Walberg to prepare final close out paper work once the punchlist is completed.
Final payment requisition has been forwarded to the Borough for review. No final payment to be made until all work is completed and accepted.
Borough and Remington, Vernick & Walberg representatives made a joint inspection of punchlist Tuesday, December 4, 2007. Contractor has been notified of the remaining punchlist (3) items. Contractor has scheduled Thursday, January 24, 2008 (directly with Rob Flynn) to complete the punchlist items.

USDA FY2004 Water & Sewer Replacement Project - “Phase 2”:

Work to be completed:
Only item left on the punchlist is the Wenzel property. Contractor scheduled for Thursday, January 24, 2008. Mr. Wenzel is to be on-site to confirm the work is done as agreed upon. This work includes driveway repair and installation of property markers. Contractor to hire Land Surveyor to complete the work.
No final payment to be made until all work is completed and accepted.

Grant application has been approved by NJDOT in the amount of $143,000.00. Work includes reconstruction of Sixth Avenue beginning at CR 607 (Bayshore Road) and proceeding easterly.
The contract has been awarded to Albrecht & Heun, Inc.
NJDOT is reviewing the storm sewer replacement change order. The Borough has requested NJDOT approval to use the entire grant amount by awarding the Change Order to Albrecht & Heun, Inc.

Bids opened January 9, 2008.
RV&W is preparing a letter to NJDOT revising the limit of the work to conform with the bid documents and request NJDOT approval to award.
