Engineering Report

 

Borough of West Cape May

USDA FY2003 Water & Sewer Replacement Project – Remote Water Meter Reading System:

  • Status: 

 

  • Remington, Vernick & Walberg had requested and USDA has  given approval to use their funds for the purchasing of the necessary hardware, software and meters. 
  • The City of Cape May has amended an intermunicipal agreement relative to the cost of improvements to service to accommodate  the proposed remote water meter reading system. 

 

  • The scope of work shall include:
  • Furnishing of infrastructure by National Waterworks. Purchasing of two (2) computers from the State of New Jersey contract list.
  • Installation of meters through public bids.

 

  • Borough has drafted technical specifications for the installation of the water meters.  Remington, Vernick & Walberg to review the specifications and develop the appropriate construction documents for bidding purposes.

           

USDA FY2004 Water & Sewer Replacement Project - “Phase 2”:

  • Status: 

 

  • All work is satisfactorily completed.
  • Contractor has satisfactorily completed all punchlist items.
  • Remington, Vernick & Walberg is preparing final close out paper work. 
  • Letter requesting as-builts, release of liens and maintenance bond was sent by Remington, Vernick & Walberg April 25, 2008. 
  • Contractor has submitted the release of items and maintenance bond.  Remington, Vernick & Walberg has forwarded the release and bond to the Borough.
  • Upon receipt, review and approval of the as-built drawings, final payment requisition releasing retainage will be forwarded to the Borough for review. 

 

            NJDOT Municipal Aid:  

 

  • Grant application has been approved by NJDOT in the amount of $143,000.00.   Work includes reconstruction of Sixth Avenue beginning at CR 607 (Bayshore Road) and proceeding easterly.
  • The contract has been awarded to Albrecht & Heun, Inc.
  • NJDOT approved the storm sewer replacement change order and the exceeding of the 20% maximum contract amount increase.  This allows the Borough to complete construction up to the maximum grant award.
  • Remington, Vernick & Walberg observed the exploratory test pits and determined the storm drain system will be replaced in kind.
  • The Contractor is ordering the pipe.  The delivery date is two to three weeks;  therefore, work is to begin the week of July 14, 2008 and has a 45 day time of completion.

 

            Park Boulevard Bike Path:

  • The project is 100% complete.
  • The contractor has submitted final payment requisition.  Remington, Vernick & Walberg reviewing.
