USDA FY2003 Water & Sewer Replacement Project – Remote Water Meter Reading System: (no change from April 25, 2007 Engineering Report)

  • Status:  The Borough and the City of Cape May have completed initial discussions and are moving forward to develop an inter-municipal agreement for the sharing of the City’s remote water meter reading system.

 

  • USDA has been given preliminary approval to use their funds for the purchasing of the necessary hardware, software and meters.  The Borough is reviewing Remington, Vernick & Walberg’s proposal for professional services in conjunction with the work.  Once approved, the proposal will be forwarded to USDA for formal approval.
  • It is anticipated to have the system operational within the next six to twelve months.

                       

ADA Upgrades for the Municipal Building:

 

  • Scope of Work:  Modify the Municipal Building Complex and make it ADA compliant through upgrades to:  Parking area for spaces, sidewalks and ramps; Entrance and access doors including hardware throughout building; Accessible route to connect all accessible spaces;  Counter top and service window areas;  Alarm system including pull stations and visible strobes;  Bathrooms, drinking fountains and showers
  • Status: 
  • Final punchlist inspection tentatively scheduled for May 23, 2007 at 10:00 AM.
  • The Contractor will not be submitting a scope and construction cost for additional eligible ADA improvements.

  • Scope of Work:  Upgrade approximately 4,600 feet of sanitary sewer gravity main and associated services, replace concrete curb and reconstruct roadway as required.
  • McCullough Alley (from Broadway to Pacific) - Install sanitary sewer.  Reconstruct roadway as required.
  • Atlantic Avenue (from Sunset to Borough Hall Alley) - Install associated services.  Replace concrete curb and reconstruct roadway as required.
  • Third Avenue (from Atlantic Avenue to Pacific Avenue) - Install sanitary sewer and associated services.  Replace concrete curb and reconstruct roadway as required.
  • Borough Hall Alley (from Broadway to Pacific) - Install sanitary sewer.  Replace concrete curb and reconstruct roadway as required.
  • Fifth Avenue (from Atlantic Avenue to Brown Street) - Reconstruct roadway as required. 
  • Brown Street (Fifth Avenue mid block towards Sixth Avenue) - Reconstruct roadway as required.  
  • Pacific Avenue (from Goldbeaten Alley to Sixth Avenue) - Install associated services.  Replace concrete curb and reconstruct roadway as required.
  • Second Avenue at Atlantic Avenue – Four house sanitary lateral collector to be replaced.
  • Status: 
  • Contractor to submit monthly updated schedule June 1, 2007.
  • Atlantic Avenue – Sanitary main installation is complete from Fourth Street to McCullough Avenue.  One lateral remains to be installed.
  • Third Avenue – Storm drain, sanitary sewer and lateral installation is 90% complete.
  • Fifth Avenue – Sanitary main installation is complete from Atlantic Avenue to Brown Street.  Storm drain installation is complete.
  • Brown Street – Sanitary main installation is complete.  Two laterals remain to be installed.
  • Second Avenue at Atlantic Avenue – Four house sanitary lateral collector is complete.
  • McCullough Alley sanitary sewer from Broadway to manhole station 13+59 (255 L.F.).  From manhole station 13+59 to Pacific Avenue tentatively to be completed by May 25, 2007.
  • Borough Hall Alley – no work to date.
  • Pacific Avenue – no work to date.
  • Concrete curbing to be in first week in June.
  • Pervious concrete paving for McCullough Alley to begin first week in July.  Let the roadway settle for 30 days.
  • Paving to begin first week in July.

 

            NJDOT Municipal Aid:  (no change from April 23, 2007 Engineering Report)

 

  • Grant application has been approved by NJDOT in the amount of $143,000.00.   Work includes reconstruction of Sixth Avenue beginning at CR 607 (Bayshore Road) and proceeding easterly.
  • Remington, Vernick & Walberg has submitted its professional services agreement for the preparation of construction/bid documents.  The agreement is under review by the Board of Commissioners.

 

            Park Boulevard Bike Path:

 

  • NJDOT has approved the request to use the former Sees Alley funds for the Park Boulevard Bike Path.
  • Remington, Vernick & Walberg to develop scope and fee for professional design services, through discussions with Commissioner Rigby.
  • Commissioner Rigby and Raymond M. Roberts (RV&W) walked the project and discussed possible scope.  Mr. Roberts is preparing construction cost estimate to determine final scope based on the current funds.
