Engineering Report
Borough of West Cape May
USDA FY2003 Water & Sewer Replacement Project – Remote Water Meter Reading System:
- USDA has been given preliminary approval to use their funds for the purchasing of the necessary hardware, software and meters.
- The City of Cape May has submitted an intermunicipal agreement relative to sharing the cost of the installation of the remote water meter reading system. The City of Cape May has submitted an Amendment to the Interlocal Services Agreement for the maintenance charge for using the remote water meter reading system.
- The Borough is to review the documents and take appropriate legislative action.
- System supplier has prepared equipment cost estimate for related equipment costs. This information is essential to establishing the final scope of work to be completed. Remington, Vernick & Walberg is working with Mark Blauer to determine the maximum amount of available funding. Meeting was held with USDA Friday, January 11, 2008, to establish the procedure to move forward. RV&W to prepare Scope of Work, to maximize the use of remaining USDA funds, and bidding process and forward to USDA for approval. Additional work including replacement of pump station pumps and installation of meters by Contractor to be added to the contract. Remington, Vernick & Walberg will then send a formal request letter to USDA for approval.
- Borough has drafted technical specifications for the installation of the water meter. Remington, Vernick & Walberg to review the specifications and develop the appropriate construction documents for bidding purposes.
USDA FY2004 Water & Sewer Replacement Project - “Phase 2”:
- All work is satisfactorily completed.
- Contractor has satisfactorily completed all punchlist items.
- Remington, Vernick & Walberg is preparing final close out paper work.
- Letter requesting as-builts, release of liens and maintenance bond was sent by Remington, Vernick & Walberg April 25, 2008. Awaiting contractor response.
- Final payment requisition releasing retainage will be forwarded to the Borough for review.
NJDOT Municipal Aid:
- Grant application has been approved by NJDOT in the amount of $143,000.00. Work includes reconstruction of Sixth Avenue beginning at CR 607 (Bayshore Road) and proceeding easterly.
- The contract has been awarded to Albrecht & Heun, Inc.
- NJDOT approved the storm sewer replacement change order and the exceeding of the 20% maximum contract amount increase. This allows the Borough to complete construction up to the maximum grant award.
- Work to begin the week of June 2, 2008 and has a 45 day time of completion.
- Contractor to begin with exploratory test pit. The results may result in an increase in the time of completion.
Park Boulevard Bike Path:
- The project is 90% complete.
- Striping and signage scheduled for week of May 27, 2008.
