Statements from the Board of Commissioners
Commissioner Geyer thanked the residents for the confidence they showed to elect him into the position to serve on the governing body. Mr. Geyer hopes to be in the office Mondays and Fridays.
Commissioner Burke also thanked the residents for their support. He stated it was an honor and privilege to serve the community. He pledged to do his best to continue balancing the various needs of this diverse community. Mr. Burke thanked former Commissioner Rigby for his four years of service. Lastly, he thanked the majority for not being silent.
Mayor Kaithern thanked everyone, especially her husband, two daughters, and her parents for their support over the last 8 years as an elected official. She gave examples of how the Borough has progressed steadily over the last four years. When she was elected in 2005, the Borough was at a crossroads and the people voted to save the small town from developers. Now, the Borough is in a position to control its development and the voters chose to elect individuals to stay the course. Mrs. Kaithern asserted the governing body is strong, informed and experienced and will honor the past while planning for the future.
Mrs. Kaithern invited everyone in attendance to enjoy a “Taste of West Cape May” luncheon after the meeting. All the food was provided by West Cape May restaurant and food establishments and plants were provided by Cape Island Home and Gardens.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Geyer, seconded by Commissioner Burke, and carried unanimously by the Board of Commissioners to adjourn the meeting at 12:30 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Elaine L. Wallace, RMC
Borough Clerk
