MINUTES OF BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
SPECIAL EMERGENCY MEETING
JUNE 24, 2010
The Special Emergency Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of West Cape May was called to order by Mayor Kaithern at 12:15 PM. Mayor Kaithern made a statement that adequate notice was not provided due to the Borough’s need to address the possibility that the Borough may have to establish its own construction office as of July 25, 2010, when its current contract with Cape May for construction inspection services expires. Should the borough have to establish its own construction office, it must give a month’s notice to the Department of Community Affairs, by resolution. Accordingly, this is a matter of such importance that delay would substantially harm the public interest because the Borough would be unable to comply with the provisions of the State Uniform Construction Code. The only action to be taken will be a resolution establishing the need for the emergency meeting and the resolution authorizing the establishment of a Department of Construction is it becomes necessary. The Mayor led those present in the flag salute. Mayor Pamela Kaithern, Deputy Mayor Peter Burke, and Borough Clerk Elaine Wallace were present. Commissioner Ramsey Geyer was also present via telephone.
Resolution 105-10 A Resolution Authorizing the Conduct of an Emergency meeting of the Board of Commissioners
The Clerk read the aforementioned resolution in full. On motion of Deputy Mayor Burke, seconded by Commissioner Geyer, Resolution 105-10 was passed unanimously on roll call vote.
Resolution 106-10 Establishing a Borough of West Cape May State Uniform Construction Code Enforcing Agency
The Clerk read the aforementioned resolution in full. On motion of Deputy Mayor Burke, seconded by Commissioner Geyer, Resolution 106-10 was passed unanimously on roll call vote.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:23 PM on motion of Commissioner Geyer, seconded by Deputy Mayor Burke.
Respectfully submitted,
Elaine L. Wallace, RMC
Borough Clerk
