MINUTES OF BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
SPECIAL BUDGET MEETING
February 4, 2009
The Budget Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of West Cape May was called to order by Mayor Kaithern at 2:30 PM. The Open Public Meetings Statement was read by Mayor Kaithern who then led those present in the flag salute. Mayor Pamela Kaithern, Commissioner Peter Burke, and Commissioner Rigby answered roll call. Also in attendance: Borough Clerk Elaine Wallace, Deputy Clerk Kate Kilian, Borough Auditor Leon Costello, Water/Sewer Supervisor David Carrick and Public Works Manager Rob Flynn.
Auditor Costello distributed budget packages to the Commissioners who reviewed it by line item, making alterations as needed. Mr. Costello explained that because of revenue shortfall in the Water/Sewer Utility, a rate increase will be necessary. As proposed, the budget would not require a tax increase. Leon Costello will make the changes to the budget that were suggested at the meeting and will prepare the necessary documents for introduction on March 25th with adoption scheduled for April 22nd. He suggested waiting until late March when the State’s budget is determined.
There were no comments from the public. The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 PM on motion of Commissioner Rigby, seconded by Commissioner Burke.
Respectfully submitted,
Elaine L. Wallace, RMC
Municipal Clerk
